My name is Brian. My outdoor activities started at school, I was in Rugby, boxing, football and swimming teams winning a lot of the time, second to the highest award for lifesaving. I would spend all summer school holidays swimming, that’s where I met Jean (my wife) little did I know at the time we would swim together, later we planned our lives together (got married) in 1966. We were invited to a holiday show where Jean won first prize of a holiday to Jersey and both being sporty we learnt to water-ski and scuba dive and enjoyed scuba so much we started with others the Great Yarmouth British Sub-Aqua Club which is still going strong today. We also formed the Norfolk and Suffolk Snorkelling Club the first one in East Anglia under the British Sub-Aqua Club.

In 1982 we decided to start a scuba business, everyone told us it would not work in England especially East Anglia with its nil Viz North Sea, strong tides and cold water, but it did and many more have followed some have come and gone, we just keep growing in fact it has become too big so my two sons are in business, one is running Kings Watersports and the other is running Scubaking and I am running Custom Holidays, Jean is watching us all, keeping us in check and our feet on the ground. We are involved in snow skiing, snowboarding, canoeing, jet skiing, bungee jumping, high board diving, sailing, archery, marathons including London and New York, mountain and rock climbing, Paul has got as far as Mount Everest and Kilimanjaro, We have the first jet ski club in the area, also motorbikes and off roading, so between us we total quite a few activities.

My most rewarding was the involvement with King Henry VIII ‘Mary Rose’ being one of the first to see the artefacts as they were being found.

Kings Watersports had an extra boast when PADI came along, and we could offer PADI courses as well.

It is with pride and privilege that over 20 years ago Lowestoft British Sub Aqua Club awarded me with the life long position of an Honorary membership of their club, which I will always treasure.
